General Sir Thomas Saumarez (1 July 1760 – 4 March 1845) was a British General.〔Dictionary of National Biography, Volumes 1-20〕 ==Life== He was born in Guernsey on 1 July 1760 to Matthew Saumarez and Cartaret Le Marchant. His brothers were Admiral James Saumarez, 1st Baron de Saumarez and Richard Saumarez, a surgeon and medical author.〔Dictionary of National Biography, Volumes 1-20〕 He married Harriet Brock in 1787, daughter of William Brock and Judith de Beauvoir.〔Annals of some the British Normal Isles constituting the Bailiwick of Guernsey〕 He served in North America during the revolutionary war. He was Equerry and Groom of the Chamber to the Duke of Kent, and afterwards Commander-in-Chief of New Brunswick.
